Games will celebrate former players, like Kyle Turris and Mark Soares
Clark Woods LLP is partnering with the Coquitlam Express in presenting four alumni game nights this season.
The events will celebrate and honour the achievements of former players who have donned the Express jersey since the team’s inception in 2001.
We are all sports nuts at our firm, so partnering with local teams is a fun way to give back to the Coquitlam community,” said Clark Woods LLP partner Guyle Clark. “We are really looking forward to seeing what the team can do this year and getting to know some of the former players who have come through town.”
Hockey fans should mark the alumni games on their calendars, he added.
The first event will be held during the November 5 game and will celebrate Mark Soares, a member of the inaugural team in 2001, who will have his jersey officially retired. Soares played 258 games with the Express, racking up 219 points and winning the RBC Cup in 2006.
Long-time NHLer Kyle Turris will have his jersey during Coquitlam’s January 6 matchup against Chilliwack. Turris played 14 seasons in the NHL, where he scored 168 goals and 257 assists with the Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators, and the Edmonton Oilers.
During the February 3 match, the club will be honouring the team that won the Fred Page Cup during the 2013-14 season, while a general alumni celebration will be held during the March 24 game.
